Hi folks,

as I couldn't get dbua working, I'm creating a new 9i database using the import/export method. The user who created the export I wish to use doesn't yet exist in the new database. Is it reasonable to use user system to do the import and will the result be the same? Any advice gratefully received.

What sort of export was it ? Full DB, user or table ?

You should just be able to import it through a DBA account and it will create all the users and their objects. You might have to create all the tablespaces in advance, though. The import will try to create them but if any directory structures for the data files are different, it will fall over. You can get a dump of all the create commands using the list option and amend them as needed.

Thanks again Dagon, all tablespaces are pre-cretaed. I'll give it a go tomorrow and report back.

Hi,

Simply do an export and then follow the following.

imp userid=system/oracle file=c:exportsmysid.dmp log=c:\temp\uw.log

Regards,
Simon
