Importing Illustrator Text

I am fairly new to Indesign. Does anyone know if you can import text from Adobe Illustrator into Indesign and then edit it in Indesign? Thanks in advance for the help>

I have always had to copy with the text tool in AI then paste in ID. It does not keep the font styles. If you try copying and pasting with the selection tool it comes in as a picture. I'm hoping this is something they can fix in the future.
