Importing Illustrator files into FH MX?

I'm having trouble doing this with our my paths going strange.

I've tried copy and paste, importing both and opening the file directly into FH. None of these have worked.

How is it done?

this is a tough issue and you won't like my "workaround"

this is the only way I've found to do it. Buy Illustrator CS....

good answer huh? We had to purchase it soley to open Ai's and PDF's. This way you can Export the Ai files to version 8 and then Freehand will open them.

I don't like it any more than the next guy. In the past you could open an AI with freehand, or even "cut" an object out of illustrator and "paste" it into freehand.... it seems that it's no longer the case.
