Importing Fixed-width text

I need to import some data from a text file to a table and I need to create an import specification within the DB to do it but I'm not familiar with this process. I need to put this in the specificationname slot in the TransferText method.
Anyone have any suggestions?

take a look at "TransferText Action" in the Help File, it steps you through the process.

If it's a file layout you will need to import regularly, you can use, File, Get External Data, Import, find your file and then click on Advanced. You can define the file layout one time and use it each time you import the file.

If it's something you will do once, just don't click the Advanced button and you can create the fields anyway you need too.
