importing files from internet

I am busy creating a shockwave movie which imports an avi digital video clip in from the net.
However I have been unable to import it in from the web as I always get the message ( difficulty reading file : 275 ).

Without making this download the shockwave movie cannot locate the video file . Is there a way of specifying a URL for this cast member and starting it playing from a specified frame without actually having to import it into director during the process of creating the movie ?
I am using director 6.
