Importing Excel 97 data

I'm using MS Access 97 and trying to import data from an Excel 97 spreadsheet.

My only problem is that one of the cells in Excel has about 500 characters in it. The import from excel only pulls in the first 255 characters?

I know the maximum size for a text field is 255 characters, so I changed the field property to memo and still no difference?!

Any ideas?
