importing eps

when trying to import a photoshop 6.0 eps into free hand 9.0
the image imports with a black back ground.
what are thew steps to importing this.this is what i'm doing
photoshop: 1.make a clipping path
2. save path as a binary (8 bit)
3 save as photoshop eps

freehand: import saved eps
opens with black background

when your saving the eps in photoshop there should be a screen that pops up with saving options. on this screen make sure that the 'save with transparency' box is checked.
