My computer has recently been upgraded to Access 2000. I work with numerous Access databases. Many of these databases are made by importing data from Excel. Reps and dealers email these Excel files. They are in various versions of Excel and have unknown formats. I am finding that with Access 2000, I am often losing data such as the leading 0 in east coast zip codes or territory numbers that don't import at all. Any suggestions on how to get around some of these problems. I have only been using Access about 6 months consistently so may just lack knowledge of Access. However, I did not seem to have these problems when I was using Access 97.

Would it be sensible to save these spreadsheets to the same version of Excel on receipt? Then you can at least use a known import process each time. Sandy
