All,

I have an issue where I would like to link or import to a number of DBASE III files frequently that do not have a .dbf extension. Access won't recognize the files unless I rename the file to .dbf. Is there any way via a registry change or other method that I can link to the files with the non-standard extension (in this case .ind) so they show up as viable options when I choose DBASE III from the file type?

Thanks,

Dimo

Change the registry key that lists the extensions of text files that can be imported into Microsoft Access:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Text\DisabledExtensions

The other way is to rename the file using VBA
Name "C:\myDBF.ind" As "C:\myDBF.txt
