I have created a table in Access and forms for inputting data, but the data is being updated by an external source. They are emailing me a .dbf file of the updated data. I want to be able to import that data back into my original table. However, there is one field that creates an Auto ID. Should I just be able to copy and paste this data into my original table and the Auto Id's will be OK??

Hiya,

Don't know whether THEIR table has the auto-id or yours.

If theirs has it and yours doesn't, then don't select it for import.
If yours has it and theirs doesn't, then your table should autonumber itself.

If both tables have the autonumber, then you'll have to NOT import their autoid - yours will provide it.

Copy your table (and data) to a new named table for backup purposes before doing the import and you'll at least be able to revert to the original in seconds if you have any problems.

I am trying to link a *.dbf file to an already made table in Access 2000.

However, all I can manage to do at this point is import the foxpro table from the dbf file, instead of just linking it to the one I've already created. I'd like for it to be dynamic. Isn't there a way to put particular columns of data from a dbf file into an already made table?

Can someone help? There's about 30,000 records, and I'm desperate... :) (I'm new to the Access scene...)
