Hi,

I'm importing data from ODBC compliant datasource to SQL Server 2000 using DTS Wizard. Works fine except I don't know how to get it to update changes only to the DB. I would like to schedule a package to run nightly to extract the updates from the legacy database without bringing the whole of the data across each time.

Is this the right approach?

Does the legasy database have a last updated field or some other way to tell if the record has been changed since the last time you imported it? If so you can use dts to create a query to retrieve the data instead of importing the entire database. You might have to create a table somewhere to store the datetime of the lastupdate so you know what records to select.
