I have imported an Access database into a newly created SQL database. I am using an access 'front end' that previously had linked tables to the access 'back end' which are now linked to SQL 2000. The tables in the access front end are not being populated properly and I can't write back to the SQL databse. Then about 5 mins into opening the front end the ODBC connection fails.

I am sorry it's vague, but any suggestions would be a great help, thanks

JDSSerrum,

What isnt being populated properly on the access front end? On the access app can you open the tables at all or are you just getting an ODBC time out when trying to return the data? How big is the table(s) you are trying to browse?

Have you got the primary key specified on the sql server, and when you set up the linked tables when you get to the 'select unique record indetifier' step, did you properly specify the records which make up the primary key on the sql server back end? If not you can delete the linked tables and recreate them ensuring you speficy the unique columns because that would affect updates.

Let us know how you get on
