Hi Folks,

I'm looking to move from Access to SQL server. Is it true that I can just 'drop' my access db's with vba source into sql and it'll be happy?

Also, does anyone know if the same can be applied to sysbase sql server?

Thanks,

Jes

You can move Access tables to SQL Server or Sybase. You can't move VBA code. Rememeber that Access is a desktop database engine with a developer environment. SQL Server and Sysbase are server database engines. They do not come with a built-in developement environemnt and GUI interface.

Some VBA code may be convertible to T-SQL scripts or procedures but will not be. There is no equivalent to the Access form in SQL Server. Many people Upsize an Access dataabse by moving the data to SQL Server while retaining the programming, forms, modules, macros, etc. in Access.
