Has anyone imported a Lotus Notes database to SQL Server 2000? Can the import/esport wizard handle it? We have access to the .nsf files from Lotus - can DTS read that or do we have to have a Domino Server running to do the transfer?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you!

ndhenrys,

Did you ever find out how to do this as I am attempting something similar? When I try to import a view from Lotus Notes I get an error because SQL is not recognizing my "from". I can preview the data when setting up the connection but when I run it I get the error:

[Lotus][ODBC Lotus Notes]Keyword FROM expected.

Any imput would be appreciated.

Regards,

Renee

Renee -
1. install the notes client on your machine (the Notes Client MUST be installed on your local machine for the driver to work)
2. install NotesSQL to your machine
3. create a link to your .nsf file using the ODBC Manager and the NotesSQL driver
4. then use DTS from SQL server to pull data in.

I didn't pull in any views, only tables, but they should work the same way. Let me know if this helps.

ndhenry,

I do have the Note Client installed as well as NoteSQL 3.01.
The problem seems to be that when I go to run DTS it is not picking up the Database Server or the Database path. If I click preview I see the data. It is only when it starts to run when I get the error message. On the last screen of the DTS wizard where it reads Source: mine reads <no name provided> then where it reads location mine reads POS the name of my data source. So somewhere it is not picking up the From source name and it is failing. Oddly it will create the table from the Notes view which is what I am pulling from but it won't go any further than that.

I take it you didn't have this problem.....??

I appreciate your response.

Regards,

Renee

when using DTS, do you click on the "transformation" tab to check that the lotus notes fields match up with the table being created?

ndhenry,

SQL is creating the table, so the names match up with the view column names.

ReneePoore,
just make sure the original view (from Lotus Notes) has exactly the same column names in your Domino database.
After that you shoul be able to import to SQL Server.

best regards
Roger

I suspect there may be spaces in the field names for the Lotus view. In the first pane of the DTS task, make sure "SQL Query" is empty and that "Table/View" is chosen. Remove and re-do auto-mapping and it should now work.

Did this ever come to a conclusion as i am experiencing exactly the same error??

[Lotus][ODBC Lotus Notes]Keyword FROM Expected

David

ndhenry,

This is what I had to do to get the importing to work ( I appologize for not responding earlier ). Go to the view that is being imported. On the column properties go to the last tab. Change the Programmatic Use value to the exact name of the column.

This should work, if not let me know.

Best regards,

Renee
