Importing a dbase file in 64-bit Access 2010

I have a scheduled task that runs in Access 2010. It reads a .dbf file and creates an Excel file that is used by other processes. It works fine on my old PC, a 32-bit XP machine. I am not able to get it working on my new 64-bit Windows 7 machine. Both are running Access 2010, but my old PC is running 32 bit and my new one is running 64 bit, if that matters.

In trying to figure out the problem, I went into Access and tried to link or import the file using the External data menu buttons. I am getting a message "External table is not in the expected format". I can go to my old PC and do the same thing and it imports the file. I have also tried this on a server with 32-bit Access and have the same issue as I do on my new PC. Is there something else I need to set up on my new PC to be able to import or link a dbase file?

I had to look it up because I thought it was deprecated... it is in 2013. So in 2010 it should work but I could see 64 bit less successfully...

I don't recall working with dbase files ever but in general the import dll's can become corrupt so a repair could possibly help as well as investigating how to manually uninstall the feature and then reinstalling it.

There could be updated drivers and another solution is to find an ODBC driver to use instead... I read something about 64 bit ODBC drivers not existing...

I thought I'd drop my two cents in since nobody has answered.
