I have a CSV file which I need to import into an Access 97 Db. The file is delimited by commas. I am using File|Get External Data|Import. I get the message "One or more rows of data in your file contain too many characters to import. The maximum characters per row is 65000."

When I try to import the same file using the same method in Access 2000, the file imports without any problems.

Can anyone tell me how to get around the Access 97 problem.

Try importing it into Word first. *****************************************

I'd import to excel first then save as an access table

either way )

I believe the file you're trying to import has no CR/LF or carriage return line feed at the end of each row.

Applications like Visual Basic, Dbase, Foxpro etc can work with data like this but not Access as far as I know.

Can you have the supplier of this data add a cf/lf to each row? This should solve your problem.

If you open it up in Word it should convert line breaks to carriage returns. *****************************************

Got a carriage return added to end of each line by file supplier - works a treat now.

Microsoft must have addressed this issue in Access 2000.....

Thanks.
