I built a pocket watch in Bryce. I created the round face w/numbers in Illustrator. I changed it into a photoshop file and created an Alpha channel.

When I try to import the photoshop file Bryce says "an unexpected error has occurred (generic failure)" and the file doesn't import.

Bryce has no problem importing the Illustrator file but I can't seem to find a way to create an alpha channel in illustrator (rastirize command doesn't seem to work) Bryce reads the empty area around the clock face as just white.

Any suggestions?

Hi

I made a clock in Bryce (same idea as yours).

To make the numbers / background of the clock, i saved 2 bitmaps: one for the numbers/background, one for the mask.
(you just need a black and white or gray levels bitmap to use as a mask for your color bitmap). I use them as a bitmap texture on my object (cylinder)

It works fine.

I encourage you to read the manual about bitmap textures and masks. That's all i needed to get it to work.

I hope this will help you!

Have fun with Bryce 5! =)))

The first response you received was correct. I'm hardly an expert, but I've learned that your image and mask must be separate Photoshop files.

Then select the object on which you choose to map the picture, and click the "Edit Materials" button. Next click a button in Column A, and then click the small Picture button. Click a square, click load in the left frame to import your image, then click the center frame to load your mask.

Now, if someone could only explain the scaling of the image on the object, I'd consider myself an expert :)
