Backed up a CP100 with 10 licenses restored it to a CP with 40 licensesI wanted to put into service and use existin g boxes while adding more users. The copy changed it to 10 liceses...bought them both used and they worked fine...got the impression that you only copied the input informatuion.

Seems to create an image. If that's the case could you buy one CP 100 with 40 boxes and copy it to any CP 100 with 10 boxes to get free licenses?

It creates an image to a degree
I dont think it changed it to 10 licenses, it copided 10 mailboxes and deleted 30, you need to now re-create the 30 mailboxes.
Double check F983/44/ADD and see how many licenses there are.

If it copied 10 and deleted 30 it seems odd. More like imaged over. Although in insatlled options serial numbers are different.

Yes thats right, just like backing up a KSU, it backups all the programming...not just bits and pieces.
The keycodes (as well the serial #) are stored on the box, the backup is on the card.
The box will still let you create 20 more mailboxes onto the card.

Out of the box comes 10 free mailboxes.
If you have a failed Call Pilot then you need to get your vendor to re-generate the key codes to the new serial number on the new CP.
These key codes contain your other 20 mailboxes.
