I have text files which I can import into Excel using the Import Wizard because I can have 2 delimiters (Tab and "|") and the wizard knows to wrap data at the paragraph mark "¶". In Access the wizard uses only 1 delimiter and do not recognise "¶" as an end of row.

I can get around this problem by first going into Excel, saving it as an *.xls and then importing it into Access.

How can I import directly into Access without the intermediate step using either the wizard or a simple vb code

I would be grateful for any help.

By selecting tab as your field delimter is should import OK. Access automatically uses the line end as the record delimeter.
