Is there a way, in Access, to easily view (and Edit) import specifications? Currently I am having to pretend to import a file and then choosing Advanced and selecting the specification I wish to change. I would love to believe there is a simple way to get to these. Perhaps there is and I just don't know how to get to it.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi PrgrmsAll,

There are two tables named MSysIMEXSpecs and MSysIMEXColumns (cant remember the exact names right now). The one is for general specifications definitions and the other about the fields of each spec. You can read those tables (goto Tools-->Options-->View tab and select Hidden Objects and System Objects if you cant see them in tables). If you need to make changes you can do it with action queries but this is hard + defficult + dangerous.

You could find some threads about if you search for that.

If you feel really ambitious...

When you 'pretend' to import a file you are launching the Import/Export wizard. All of these objects are contained in [tt]ACWZLIB.MDE[/tt] (O2K).

The objects, code, rules are all there, your mission should you choose to accept...

Thanks to you both. It is a (bit of a) relief to find out I wasn't missing something too obvious! This is very helpful. Stars to you both.
