I am using fmp8 on Windows and I’m having some problems with the Import script step with regards to the ODBC option, specifically when I try to use a calculation to build my query. In order to better trouble shoot the issue I used a very simple query typed into the text box.

I was able to map and import data with no problems using the text box by typing in the query manually or using the one put there by the query builder. Because I was successful in that attempt this seems to rule out the ODBC connection and any security issues that could be the problem. Also because I was successful it tells me that my simple 2 line query is also ok. I then copied and pasted the query into the “Calculated SQL text” box. The problem is when I got to the window to map the fields the source was blank. I tried a few different variations tring to make sure there was not an issue with the carriage return and spacing but I don’t believe that’s the problem. Also I copied the thing into a global field and only referenced the field name in the “Calculated SQL Text” and also looked at it using a message box to see how it would format the text and it seemed fine to me

I’m at a loss as to what to do now. I did call Filemaker pro and while they were kind enough to not charge me for the call I didn’t get any real satisfaction either. There basic response was they offered vary little support when it comes to ODBC. Any help would be appreciated greatly.
