I upgraded a computer to a new one, changed a computer. Including in the upgrade was a move from Outlook Express 5.0 to Outlook 2000. I sucessfully import the email (pst file) and now I can send/receive emails fine and have all the "old" email messages including the folders in the new computer.

The problem: Just for the "old" emails that came from Outlook Express, if I double-click on a name in the FROM field (i.e. FROM: John Smith) I can't retrieve the name's actually email (i.e. JSmith@aol.com), neither I can reply.

It is as the actual emails addresses of the messages didn't transfer but the rest is fine.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Try this: Highlight the message, Right-Click and choose Options. Scroll down through the garbage text and you should find a From field that shows both the alias and the actual email text.

You may also be able to open the message, Right-Click on the From field and Add to Personal Address Book. Newposter

It worked, great tip and info! Thanks!

Now, Do you think this is the way that should have worked after importing a *.pst file from Outlook Express 5 to Outlook 2000?

Or I missed something when I imported the pst file?

Thanks!

Andres

I don't think you did anything wrong. I think the file formats are of different construction. At some point when I upgraded from Exchange to Outlook 97 to Outlook 2000, the Personal Address Book, which was a separate file (mailbox.pab) became incorporated and was populated into Outlook 2000 along with all my messages.
