Hi,

I was wondering if I can use and excel-file as a datasource.
can anyone help me, how to connect to such a file?

Qestions are:
- which driver? ODBC (windows only?)
- ODBC datasource? (path of the file? just \\server\folder\...?)
- ODBC connect string? (whats this for?)

In ReportNet/C8 you can use Excel spreadsheets as datasources.

[li]Name the area in the spreadsheet you want to import, (Insert -> Name -> Define) and save the file so it is accessible from the Cognos environment.[/li]

[li]Create an ODBC connection to the spreadsheet.[/li]

[li]Create a datasource pointing to the ODBC connection.[/li]

[li]Import data from the spreadsheet (you’ll be able to choose from the various areas you named in the spreadsheet).[/li]
