I have a field in excel that needs to be a memo field in access. Although, when I import through the wizard and select the field that needs to be a memo field it does not allow me to change the data type from a text to a memo. Therefore, when I do the import it gives me an error on that field and does not import any of the data for that field.

Any advice on how to get that field to import into a memo field?

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried creating the table ahead of time so you can make that field a memo type field?

Yes. I have tried that. It still does the same thing.

I can't duplicate your problem, so I am working blind. Here are a few thoughts:
1. Access assigns data types based on the first few rows of data in your Excel file. Are they typical rows? If not, create one row of dummy data that more accurately represents the data you are about to import.
2. Could there be REALLY weird characters in this field that might be throwing things out of kilter? If this is a possibility, try creating a dummy Excel file with simple but long data and see if you have the same trouble.
3. What version of Excel and Access are you using.
