Import does not bring back contacts

Hello all:

I exported my Outlook using the wizard and restored it back to my surprise that all e-mails came back but no contacts

I had checked all subfolders.... which could the addresses be sitting?

Basically, we split the LAN into two subnets and users were backed up moving from one DC to another.

We do not have MS Exchange.... we use POP3!

Any suggestions?

Did you have a filter set within the export wizard? If not, the only posibility I can see would be that you failed to select the "Personal Folders." Depending on which folder you had highlighted before opening the Import and Export wizard, OL will have only that folder selected. For example, if the Inbox was highlighted before opening the wizard, even if you select "Include Subfolders," OL will not include any folders outside of the inbox.

How many users had this problem? Or, were you the only one?

I did implode the folder and checked sub-folders before attempting to make a backup. Restore failed to bring contacts

I also copied the outlook.pst and tried restoring it to a new account and failed again

I am exporting and importing as PST. Do you think I should change file format?

To confirm, you are using the Import and Export... wizard and not the Backup add in wizard correct?

It is a nice tool that I use on each client pc to ensure each user has a current backup of their complete pst file should their hard drive give out. I set the backup frequency to once/week and when they close OL it backs up automatically to our server.

I am unsure why your contacts are not exporting. Have you tried to export the contacts folder only? I have performed the same type export and import (.pst) numerous times without issue.
