Import Dates from Raw File

Hello

I am importing into SAS from a flat file. The date in the flat file is stored as 20070401 - no slashes etc. How do I import this into SAS because if I indicate mmddyy10. the date comes in as blank.

I know that SAS stores the date as a number but do I want to indicate as number on import? Please advise - thanks.

Sorry but I did figure it out. I needed to show the format that it is in i.e. yymmdd8.
