Hello,

Let me start by saying I am no where NEAR a CRM expert. :)

Here's my current scenario.

We had a server crash that forced us to reinstall our domain controller. We were running SBS 2k3 and decided to move everything over to a full blown network in order to prevent this single server problem. I was able to get a database back-up out of SQL (barely). Now, I have the backup file on disk.

I installed everything and it works great now. I added users through the CRM utility. Now, I need to get the data from the backup in to the new CRM Database.

I did a database restore over the existing, however I'm getting authentication errors. If I put it back to the previous then it starts working again.

Is there a utility where I can import from a backup (or another database that I restore this backup to)???

OK...I got this to work. If anyone else is in the same problem, here's what you have to do.

With your installation done, restore the database to another database. Then, on the CRM CD, there's a data migration tool (don't use the one thats on Microsoft's website). Use that tool to bring everything over to the proper database. The wizard only asks a few questions and then does it's job.

have you rebuilt your domain or did you restore your active directory?

the problem is that crm is tied to the AD so if you lose your AD the crm data is orphaned to an extent.

Jodonnel,

I rebuilt the entire domain. I did discover that the data was tied to the AD SSID's.
