hi there,

can anyone help? im having trouble importing a csv file into my outlook address book. the file is set up as just email addresses seperated by comas. my porblem is on the mapping page, it displays the email addresses in a list on the left but only seems to allow me to map one of the addresses at time, to the email field.

is there a way that i can import my 50 new addresses from a csv to make up 50 new contacts in my address book, all of which have email address as the only field

many thanks, shaun

Hi there ...

If you have 50 email addresses separated by commas Outlook is reading it as 50 fields in the one record (or 50 fields in the one Contact as the case may be). You need to replace the commas in your .csv with paragraphs symbols. You can just use find and replace in Word or similar to do this (^p = paragraph in the replace).

Outlook will then read it as 50 records with one field only and you will be able to import all 50 email addresses into your contacts as 50 new contacts.

Just a suggestion - in order to have 'names' in each of your contacts, I would have two fields per record - the name field and the email field - eg

Joe Bloggs,joeb@xxx.com
Charlotte Burns,charlotte.burns@etc

each field separated by a comma and each record separated by a paragraph.

Hope this helps

Good luck

Kay

Hello - I would like to add a question to this thread. I have imported addresses but just the name imported - not the email address. Is there a certain set up that I am missing to get the email into the contacts folder?

Thanks in advance
Taylor
