Import Contacts into Contact Management Template

I'm currently running Share Point Server 2007 ( MOSS 2007 ) and I've created a new portal for one of our departments. They need to share a large list of contacts. I've installed the Application Template Core and installed the Contact Management Template for the portal.

The contacts I have are in an Excel file. Is there any way for me to import it?? There are just wayyy to many contacts to do by hand. If I need to convert it from Excel to something else first, thats fine too

I'm relatively new to SharePoint, so if you could provide any help with some detailed instructions, that would be extremely helpful
