import budget from excel question

when importing a budget from excel, do the periods included in the budget have to be open? can some of the periods be closed?

also, what formats do the excel cells have to have? GP's help only mentions view only.... :-(

The periods must exist and the accounts also must exist. A good way to see the format is to do this in reverse.

In GP go to Cards > Financial > Budget and use the budget wizard to create a blank budget in Excel. This is the same format you need for importing back into Excel.
