Import and include namespace where and when

Hi All,
I've got a Schema that is made up of other schemas, it has some import and some include to the other schemas.

I'm trying to work out why some schemas are include and some are import.
What is the difference with import and include?
When would you use one over the other?
What is the pros/cons of each (if any)?
Does being used in run-time play any significance?

Plain and simple non-techno talk would be much appreciated.
