I have been an ACT user for about six, or seven years. I am presently stuck in ACT v6.0 because ACT 2006, and ACT2007 have very strict licensing / activation. Let me explain, I run ACT6.0 on my workstation at work, but periodically restore my ACT contacts on my home computer for read-only access, and for disaster / recovery. ACT2006, and ACT2007 makes you purchase a second license for this, and even if I did purchase the second license, I would not trust this in a disaster / recovery situation.
My question: Are there any contact managers that will import ACT data?
I would consider an other application if I could grow with it, and if it would allow a disaster / recovery type restore with out shelling out more money.
An alternate question is: Can I run my ACT2007 on my workstation at work, and be able to backup my data, and restore it at home without purchasing a second license?
I would not be using ACT at home, and synchronizing the data between the two workstations, but simply keeping the home workstation for disaster / recovery reasons.
A related issue would also be when the workstation fails, or is replaced, is another license required when installing ACT2007 again?
