Hi,

Is there any form of documentation that shows the preferred method of implementing Daylight Saving Rules, etc. for a multi-location switch?

I have been looking through the manuals, etc. and there seems to be so many different areas that can be used, such as

Locations (Time-zone & DST)
Daylight Savings
IP-Network-Region (Location)
Station (Location)
Service Hours (Location)
VDN (DST, Offset & Holiday)

Is there such a thing as the preferred method?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

You use a combination of settings.

daylight-saving-rules to set up different rules
locations to tie a rule to a location
station location to tie the station to a specific location
service-hours to define which location(timezone) is default for that table

etc

I see people do all types of things, I don't know if there is an official answer but...

A lot of customers set the time to the local time zone of wherever the core CM server is, and then they make adjustments off of that (Core is in Pacific time/Los Angeles, offsets on locations table are set to -1 for Mountain, -2 for Central etc). I've seen others who put the core CM servers on UTC and then run standard offsets everywhere (-8 for PST, -7 Mountain etc). I think its a matter of preference.

A note on this: Configure your ESS servers with the same timezone and time as your core CM servers, even if they are in different time zones. The translations will reflect the time zone of the call processing server.

Also use NTP.
