In a bit of a bind... we have very effectively implemented GoldMine with our National sales force and we are approximately $25K over budget. We have been working with a Corporate Partner and although I have done a lot of the customizing myself, it has been a lot of billing hours from the software distributor. We basically launched what most companies would consider a "phase 2" version to our salesforce - unrecognizable to other companies because it is so custom.

For 48 licenses and over 500 consultant-billed hours, are we way out of line if we spend $100K to implement this software?

I gather this is US dollars. The rates seem OK. As you say the GM is virtually unrecognisable so obviously there has been considerable work done. If they can justify the 500 hours. I hope they completed a lot ow work with process managment etc. and this wasn't just getting the software installed and customsied.

As an organistation we would have notified the customer when they were approaching their budget and given them an estimate of what it would cost to continue. Certainly for 500 hours we would have been providing progress invoices anyway.

IMHO
