Well, Tomcat uses the "Commons DBCP" project, where source is available from here :

http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/dbcp/

and intsall guides for tomcat here :

http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-5.0-doc/jndi-datasource-examples-howto.html

and of course [my] db pool is below on my signature ...
I'm not releasing the source code for it at the moment though ...
