I am attempting to use impersonation to allow clients to log in and download their files. The impersonation works for them to log-in (if I remove the username and password from the identity it errors out when attempting to access the SQL database).

When I click on the link to the file name it pops up with a log-in box. When I enter the username and password from the identity it will allow me to access the file(s).

How can I get it so the impersonation works and it won't pop up the login box asking for a username and password?

Is this on an INTRA net?
Trying to use IWA?

does your URL use a subdomain?

It's on the INTER net. If I type in the impersonation user name and password in the log-in box that pops up everything works. Which makes me think there is an issue with the impersonation, or somewhere the impersonation is being lost.

anonymous is all you can get on internet...
protected areas would require login via basic or forms auth -

if you are impersonating the login, are you really authenticating anybody? They are still coming in as the asp.net account.

If your site is Internet Exporer will always prompt for credentials no matter what

If your site is should be ok.

i believe identity impersonate=true requires IWA, which is not available on the internet.
