Hey,

I need to change the hostname of an AIX machine. There are some Database Clients and Servers along with other apps installed on the machine.

I wanted to know if there would be any impact on these DB softwares or apps if I permanently change the hostname ?

The answer is a definite maybe! Do your applications reference this system by name, for example hostname.yourdomain.com. If so you can expect a problem unless you change all the references. Also, do you run your own dns? If so you will have to make the changes there as well to keep everything in sync. If you have control over the dns then you could make an alias there, and continue to allow the old name to resolve, while changing to the new.
