IMC Service

Our exchange sever 5.5 with SP4 is running on NT4 server. Last weekend, we just run the eseutil and isinteg due to the corrupted information store. After running all these utilities, all services can be started, only except the IMC. The below error appears:

Event ID: 4118
Souce: MS Exchange IMC
Category: Internal Processing
Description: An error was encountered while validating addresses. This error was returned from the operating system, or messaging software. As a result, the message in spool fie PX97WV7K failed to be delivered.

After a period of time, we tried to start this service again and it can be started successfully, without doing any changes. Now, we can send and receive any external emails. However, this event log can still be found from the event viewer.

Can anyone have any ideas on what's this error about and any problem on the exchange?

Hi,

Please check the IMCDATA directory there will be a directory named OUT. There will be the message that is not being delivered due to some problem. Delete that message and the error will go off.
