IMAP4 connector problems

I have been trying to figure out why I cannot add new users and found that the IMAP4 virtual server connector was not started. It seems that this could be part of the issue for not being able to add users, so I tried starting the connector, and it will not start. I get an error that it would not start in the appropriate time.

So here are my questions...

How do I get my IMAP4 virtual server running?

Is this causing me issues with adding users?

The IMAP4 connector should not have any affect on adding users, it is not a required component, however if imap4 will not start it may be indictive of a bigger problem in the sustem.

When you try to add a user does the account create in active directory? does it allow you to click create mailbox but then the mailbox doesnt arrive?

have you installed all SP's for exchange?

Everything is up to date with SP's for exchange. I found the issue with IMAP4, the service was not started and when I did start the service it came right up. Still did not fix my issue with creating mailboxes for new users and adding them to the GAL.

I was able to add the new mailbox manually, for smtp and x400. This will let get the mailbox to work with OWA and Outlook2003, but it still does not add the user to the GAL.

Very frustrating..

Have you got any custom rules on the GAL so it only displays users based on groups etc. I know this can be done but not something i've needed. It could be configured somewhere on your server
