Our IMail 8.05 (with hotfix 3) installation sometimes takes off and runs with 100% cpu utilization. Normally the load is around 25%, but around once a day the IMail Web service just goes haywire and uses all cpu-power and refuses to go back to normal.
When trying to stop the service it crashes after a while (30 sec.), then I can start it as normal and utilization goes back to normal. Until a day later it suddenly starts using 100% of the cpu again.
More seldom (once every other week) the Queue Manager service does just the same and the \spool\ directory fills up with around 180.000 files.
When the IMail Web service uses 100% of the cpu, the users is having severe problems using the mailserver via web and pop3. This is very frustrating for everyone. We have around 20.000 users.
Does anyone have suggestions where to look to figure out what is happening? Logs, registry, events, files anyting? Any help is highly appreciated.
