Hi all and thank you for taking the time to look at my thread. My request is a simple one(i hope). I have been using Norton ghost 2003 for a long time now and have been fairly happy with it. But recently i have been trying to image a machine with a SATA hard drive but ghost will not see the drive. Can any body suggest a good imaging program that will image a SATA drive or even offer a solution so i can make ghost 2003 do it. Thank again everybody....

It's probably just an issue of the correct drivers not being loaded. Because Acronis runs in a Windows pre-boot environment it has access to all of the Windows storage drivers. Since ghost is usually run from a boot disk, then it only has access to the drivers installed on that disk.

I'm imaging sata drives with Acronis by using a boot disk. No pre-boot tricks involved.

With sata drives your ghost will work fine but you need the noide switch. Type "ghost.exe -noide" and it will work like a charm.
