Hi,
I have a captcha php script that I downloaded from and it worked great on one website - linux hosting i think, but after transferring it onto another website (windows hosting i think), it seems to be working except that the characters that are displayed are hollow rectangles (illegal characters). I'm at my wits' end!

Any help would be appreciated.

true type fonts on windows may be different to their equivalents on different architectures. it is the big-endian-ness that is the culprit i believe.

upload a proper windows ttf to the new server and use that instead.

that's it! Thank you so much.... that has been bugging me all morning, i was trying to encode the string and everything!

I uploaded the arial.ttf from my xp machine and it works!
