Hi,
I'm trying to create a PDF from html. When I do so, it gets rid of the space around my images so that the images are right up against each other.

In my html css, I have margin-bottom: 20px

Even though it looks correct on my browser, Acrobat ignores this margin when I create the PDF from the html page.

Anyone know how I can retain this spacing?
TIA

Depends on how you're making the pdf.

Try File menu/create pdf/from web page and point to the local folder/file with your page(s).

We have to create pdfs from online web pages all the time. We use Print and adobe pdf as the printer and have few problems. If you have a Mac and print a pdf with its included pdf maker, it almost always renders correctly.

I had created them with File/create pdf/from web page.

But..I tried your suggest of print from the browser and choosing adobe PDF. That worked great!!! Format looks exactly like it did on my browser!

One question, though. How do I change the default settings for that? For example, it put headers/footers on each page which I'd like to turn off, and it did not retain the hyperlinks which I'd like to preserve. When I do print/adobe PDF and then click on settings, I don't see choices for this listed.

Thanks.

You're killing me here in that I've never ended up with headers or footers when printing web pages to pdf. I just opened a recent 37 pager to check and no headers/footers. After you select Adobe pdf as your printer, go through the other options in your pronter window, like pdf, etc and see what's there.

As for web links, you can try a few things. Open the pdf in Acrobat pro and go to Advanced menu/Links/Create and see how that works. it depends on how links are structured (internal, external, etc.)

Another trick is to make a pdf of i htmal page (anything). Then go to Advanced menu/web capture/append web page. select your web pages/site and the pages you want. Then hit Settings. There are a zillion options here. First pick what you need on the main window for both General and page layout. Then click on HTML in teh scrolling menu and click settings for more options. Then Append and see how it comes out. If ok, just delete the first page that you used.

The above was available to you when you selected Create/From web page (theres a settings window, so I don't know if the spacing around images will hold.

Hmmm, yeah the Create/From is what messes up the space around the image. I looked at every setting I could find, and didn't see anything pertaining to that.

I bet you've never had headers and footers because it is set that way somewhere. But where? Hmmm... Maybe I'll just have to remove them by hand.

I'll try Links/Create and see what it does.

Thanks.

Aha! Solved the header and footer problem. It's a setting in the browser itself. I'm using IE 6. Under File/Page Setup, there is a field for header and another for footer. Mine has these values in it:
Header: &w&bPage &p of &P
which puts the document title and Page 1 of 1.

Footer: &u&b&d
which puts the full path of the file

One problem solved.
