When creating a PDF, either using Distiller or directly from within Quark, my color images get lighter. My black & white images stay the same and look fine. But the color images get washed out.

I'm using "Generic Color" for my selected printer (I do not have a PostScript color printer hooked up to my computer). I've tried selecting other printers (HP, Canon) from the list, and while the image may look slightly different, color images still appear washed out. I use "Print Job" settings.

Any ideas?

This could just be a Colour Profile issue.

I guess you would need to get some proofs made to tell if it will be affected come print time.

Colour Management is a complicated and sometimes hair pulling experience.

When you create the postscript files/PDFs, rather than using a generic ps printer, select Distiller as your postscript printer, and in Distiller's job options under the Colour tab, select 'leave colour unchaged'.

Thanks for the tip... will definitely give it a try.
