Images & image size in the DB

Hi dear Frends

can some one plz guide me on how can i select the thumbnails of large images on one form from the DB or file system and their links on the when-image-pressed trigger. as when i try to open a large image file into a small image item i rcv the message can't read image file (i'v selected to resize in the image item properties.)

any help would be greatly appreciated.
