I am working in xhtml and CSS and after I publish my web site the images do not display. Instead I see a red X with the alternative text. Any thoughts. To view the source go to homepage.mac.com/cdarkins

Looks OK to me in IE XP. I see a "Driven X change" graphic on top of a left nav menu with a photo of a bridge to the right of it. There's a short faint grey bar under the nav menu, and a text link on the right labelled "Home Page" that doesn't do anything.

For images that are not showing, such as:

the most likely reasons are because the image doesn't exist, or was uploaded incorrectly (ascii mode instead of binary mode, for example).

I'd ask for help in the forum related to your web publishing software to make sure all the settings you are using are correct.

Hope this helps,
Dan

Everything that Dan posts above is true... but the fact that the images do show for other users (as posted by mkrausnick) leads me to think there might be another reason.

Maybe the cache on your browser is full (I'm assuming Windows with IE -- since that's the most popular combo). You could confirm this by testing in another browser (Firefox)... if the images show, then it's most likely the cache.

To clear the temporary files in IE for Windows:
Select "Internet Options" from the "Tools" menu. Inside the area titled "Temporary Internet Files" click the "Delete Files" button and delete the temprary cache files. Then try visiting the page again.

Cheers,
Jeff

I imagine that I saw the same images as mkrausnick - the URL given above hasd no problems for me. I just surfed around pages until I found some missing images.
