Images displaying as red box, done with errors on page

My new Win2000 PC will not display images on some sites correctly.

Instead of the image, there is a red box, and the bottom of the page sometimes says 'done with errors on page'.

It doesnt affect all sites, and it doesnt affect all images on the affected sites. The images are jpegs, and contain links. More complex sites more likley to be affected - eg and
Have tried:
Installing latest Flash
Installing Java
Javascript is enabled
Is IE6.0.2800.1106

Anyone know how to cure this?
 
Thanks - unfortunately it hasnt cured the problem though!
 
There's also a litany of dll's that you might try re-registering. I've chopped this out of a Microsoft KB article:

Quit all programs that are running.
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.

When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
