Images disappearing in HTML doc embedded in Outlook 2003 e-mail messag

I'm attempting to embed an HTML document which contains images into an e-mail but when I do this the images disappear and are replaced by blank boxes with a red cross in the top left had corner of the image box. How can I get the images to appear in this document when it's embedded in e-mail ?

Are you copying the HTML from a web site?

If you don't have a complete file path to the image involved, there will only be a red 'x' when you send mail.

Other than that, I would be lost since I don't use Outlook.
