I have a technical problem with Freehand, and I need a hand. I've recent seen my last advertisement (made with freehand) in a magazine, and I've seen that imported images (tiffs or jpegs) have much less resolution than the originals when the advertisement document is printed by magazine people. At first sight, I thought that they printed the JPEG preview I sent to them, instead of the
FH10 doc, but I've realised that when I try any kind of export (to TIFF, to BMP, to PSD, to JPEG), I obtain the same bad results as them. The strange thing is that on Freehand screen I see the images with the correct resolution, and it also looks good when I print the Freehand document with freehand, but when I export the document to TIFF, JPEG, PSD or whatever imported images look like being imported in a very low resolution. Do you have any clue about why is this happening?

Thank you very much in advice

Magazines frequently make dumb mistakes like using 'proof' JPEGs on press.

Prepress shouldn't have a problem with EPS files from Freehand 10. They may have problems with FH10 native files. I would suggest exporting EPS with TIFF preview, in CMYK, for maximum compatibility.

Exporting raster files like TIFFs and BMPs will cause quality loss on vector art and text, and is usually unsuitable for print. But, you can set resolution for exporting image files with the setup button in the export dialog.

If you are using raster effects in your document (like drop shadows) you need to set raster effects resolution under Document Settings in the Edit menu.
