I have modified an image in photoshop that is 8.5 x 11 and the photo quality is great. I save it as a .psd file and then proceed to place it in InDesign. The resulting image in InDesign is pixelated and looks unclear. Why is it doing this? Can anyone tell me how to maintain photo quality between the two programs? Thanks in advance.

AS Marcus said, display performance set to high helps a bunch. It's under View menu. Indesign Preferences allows you to set a default display perfromance. I have mine set to high with everything in that pref set to highest.

You can also go to View menu and select Overprint preview for better view.

When printing from ID, make sure you choose to send 'All' image data - can't remember what the default is called, but it's more of a low-rez preview type thing. It's under the print menu under Graphics.

low-rez preview type thing" for Eggles = Optimised Subsampling for everyone else.

One of my operators got burnt the other day. The forgot to change that setting and sent a PDF to the Printers with low res images in it.

It's since been fixed and I've made a print preset for them all.

Marcus - such a thing would NEVER happen here. Our employees are well aware that each mistake will result in the loss one finger. This is explained during orietnation for new employees. One of our older employees, "3 Fingers Smith" conducts the orientation.

We have found that this results in virtually NO mistakes.

Sorry Marcus - had a 'senior' moment and couldn't remember if ID called it the same as PM. I have created so many Print Presets on my computer I never check any more. Probably should once in a while just to keep me on my toes.

I know. Merry Xmas to you too.
